It's crucial for the working writer to have a reliable personal assistant.
I'm borrowing the personal assistant of my writer friend Heloise S. while she's out of the country for a spell.
Here we are, about to go to work. Can you see our dogged determination?

My little writing assistant passed away last Friday. :(
Oh, Mari, I'm so sorry to hear that. I've lost a couple of my fuzzy assisstants over the years and it's really hard (he says typing at an awkward angle so as not to disturb the cat in his lap). You have my sympathies. Take care of yourself.
Many condolences, Mari.
Oh, and Bill -- I think I saw you walking your fuzzy assistant on Fairview a few days ago when Mason and I were on our way back from the Underwater Experience (sawfish!)
Do scaly assistants count?
Mari: How sad. I'm sorry. Losing a companion animal is one of the hardest things to bear. I know. Take care.
Lyda: Furred, finned, feathered, and scaled -- our little helpers come in all forms.
Great pic, Bill. (Snow, eh? What do you think this is, January in Minnesota?
Mari, they mean so much to us. My memories of griefs past aren't easy ones, except the fuzzy furries have each been so overwhelmingly worth the eventual price. My condolences.
Thanks everyone. Things are going a bit better, but it's not been that long, yet. She's left a gap that's still glaringly obvious.
