THROW AWAY The Elements of Style if you want to be a creative writer. It might be good for high school term papers, but fiction writers have the privilege and perhaps even the obligation to bend and break and reinvent the rules of writing. By the way, the New York Times wrote an obituary for The Elements of Style back on August 23. May it RIP.
