Twittering for Writers
I suppose this falls under the much debated topic of self-promotion for writers, but some time ago I joined Twitter. I'll be honest. I don't really know how to use Twitter effectively. I just post the occasional lame tweet about my life. Apparently, there's more to it than that. Someone on another list I belong to pointed me to Inkygirl's blog post: Twitter Guide for Writers. I'm sure most of you techno-savvy kids already know all there is to know about Twitter, but for the few that don't... this is for you. I'm learning a lot.

Because I use Twitter, and I'm adoring it. If I get forward-esque things, bugger it, for now, it's really fun.
Glance at William Gibson and Bruce Sterling for guys who really know how to use it. Which isn't surprising...
It's funny at William Gibson is good at it, honestly, given that he supposedly wrote NEUROMANCER on a typewriter and with barely enough knowledge about computers to make him dangerous, as it were.
I have a feeling Twitter could be a huge time suck if I let it, but, on the other hand, if you're not using it to its potential, why bother?
Oh yeah, if you add swarms and swarms of people, Twitter would be insane. Scalzi, Doctorow, /Jim Butcher/... way too many people.
Pretty sure why Gibson's good at it, at least, is because he's... lean? careful with words? ... the Twitter limit plays to his advantage. 8)
Primary reason I'm using it is for interesting and weird news.
i've been using Twitter since long before CNN began to use it in place of real journalistic investigations, but i had no idea all those twitter chats existed! I've seen #writegoal here and there, but not the #amwriting. nifty! thanks!
