"They" It can be singular gender neutral and perfectly correct, the historical and grammatical case. Gabe Doyle (graduate student and doctoral candidate in Linguistics) saying smart things about language.
Tobias Buckell saying smart things about self publishing and attitude. As someone who is strongly considering shifting some of my publishing to an indy model, I quite agree with this.

Buckell totally nails it, but reading the post, I can't help but feel like he's wasting his time. There's certain people that have decided to be bombastic jerks and they'll never change--you can't talk them down--and if someone can't see that for themselves and decides to follow the jerk, you certainly will never be able to explain to them why they shouldn't.
On the other hand, sometimes it's fun to call out the jerks.
