It's Monday, and, honestly, I'm having kind of a crappy one. First of all, it's raining in that drizzly, dreary sort of way, which always sort of brings me down. Secondly, my beloved fish are sick (again!). On top of that, our one and only car is in the shop getting some very, VERY expensive, yet necessary work done. (The dumb car and its dangerous struts also caused me to miss Kelly's party on Saturday: All Hail the Red Currant Jelly!)
The only good part of the day is that I'm somewhat stranded at a coffee shop I discovered on Friday, when I first took the car in to get an estimate on what needed to be done. It's called Shish Cafe here in Saint Paul, and it has the most excellent breakfast I've had in a long time and free WiFi. (Hooray!)
However, I could use some cheering up or at least distracting. So tell me! How's your day? What have you got on? Anything fun? Challenging?

I am polishing up my 750 word short, short story that I'm going to send to that website I read about right here on this blog...
I'm getting responses back from my group tonight. We used to be called (or, at least, I used to refer to them on the computer as...) These Precedes Knees, but now I've decided that I prefer: The Sparkle Ball Death Bunnies...
Anyway, tonight the Sparkle Ball Death Bunnies will give me some feedback and then I'll submit it at the end of the week. Fingers crossed.
Also, I'm well over halfway on the copy edits for my book from my two editors, so hopefully in a month or two, I'll begin querying agents. Scary, but exciting.
Also, also, I am starting the second chapter of the second book this week, so thats a big deal for me.
And... I just finished the graphic novel class at the loft, which was great, and at the end, was left with a script for a single issue, that now I've been thinking about finishing up as a three to six issue thing... just cause... so I'll start on that soon-ish too.
I got your mailing about the reading and I'm planning on attending. Good luck!
Great! I'm looking forward to seeing you there.
Your list is inspiring. I really wanted to take that Graphic Novel class, too.
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to eke out 10,000 words for my novel... and am having a devil of a time.
They're offering it again next year. It was a good class. Xander has everyone write a 1 page script and then he takes it to this artists' circle he draws with and has eveyone pick a page and draw it for us... I got a crappy one, but Mark's turned out pretty good.
Anyway, the class is totally worth it, lots of fun.
Hey, sorry to hear that your car needed a money infusion this week. Mine did too, in the form of three new tires (I had a tire turn into ribbons of rubber suddenly while I was driving across the Minnesota River bridge with my two little kids. Scared the Jesus out of me, and a nice police officer had to come to our rescue.) The writing's okay, though. Worked on revisions of chapter 14 last night. Maybe a few months work left to go? But right now my 18 month old is trying to stick a plastic pepperoni to the cat, so I should intervene...
I've reached apoint in HQ where I've realize I really, really, really need to firm up the mushier plot points before I go any further. When I start wrestling with what should otherwise be a straight-forward scene, it's usually a sign from my sub-conscious that I need to clear the path ahead before putting down the next paving stone.
On the plus side, I realized I am at the half-way mark, which means I need to begin building momentum for the revelations that need to come. Time to stop using the teaspoon to dole out information, I think. :)
So, not much writing in terms of words on paper, but good stuff that will (hopefully) speed up the process very shortly.
work has been intruding on my writing time - grrr! - but on the bright side my fish aren't sick.
i don't have fish to get sick, but still...
Hey, always look on the bright side, eh, Shawn? I suppose I could be happy my dog isn't sick... since I don't have one.
