Whatca' Reading?

A long time ago, back when MiniCON was big, I attended a panel that Alan Steele was on. I no longer remember what the panel topic was, but I remember him talking about how he had these tremendous periods in output (writing) followed by a cycle of input (reading.)

Well, even though I'm still in the middle of writing my young adult novel, my input valve must be stuck or something because I've been reading like CRAZY. I've just narfed a bunch of graphic novels in the manga series HIRAKU NO-GO (about a bunch of kids, a ghost, and professional "Go" playing in Japan) and I finished a novel by Australian author Bernard Beckett called GENESIS (hardcover, Houghton Mifflin Harcort, 2009). (I have a long extended rant... er, review of the book over at my alternate personality's LiveJournal blog. Warning: SPOILERS. I put them under lj-cuts, but I don't know if they'll be there if you go via my link. So sheild your eyes. :-)

Anyway, that always leads me to wonder... what are the rest of you reading these days?

New YA vampire anthology called "Eternal Kiss" for review on my blog. Then probably on to the second book in the Hunger Games series, which comes out at the beginning of September.

I intend to pull myself out of my comic book rut and read The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker by Leanna Renee Hieber.

I met her at one of our (nameless!) writing group meetings. The book is really being marketed as romance but she said it's cross genre.

I'm not writing anything, because if I do I would get Distracted from I Must Move. I'm not sure which is more unpleasant, the town or the not writing.

Thus I gots much more availability for reading.

I finished a tiny manga called Dragon Hunt by Richard Knaak, Broken Angels by Richard K Morgan (Kovacs is uber as usual), Over There, about the US in the Great War (very interesting), and the 9/11 Commission Report (which told me so many things, and is part of the source of the move urge).

Reading soooo many things at the same time.

3/4ths done with "The Whiskey Rebels" by David Liss. It is, as with all his books, wonderfully written and very well researched.

Oh... David Liss! I'm going to have to look for "Wiskey Rebels," Doug. That sounds cool.

Everyone is reading such interesting things. I'm going to have to extend my TBR list!! I'm especially interested in new manga since my library only seems to have up to volume 14 of HIKARU NO GO. (Aaaaaaaarrrrgh!!!)
